Before you hit the road, it is important you understand where you CAN and CANNOT pick people up.

We will have our Private Transportation Company License in the City of Toronto (the area of the map in Green). This means you are legally licensed to pick riders up and drop riders off in this area.

The City of Toronto covers Downtown, Etobicoke, North York and Scarborough.

You are also allowed to pick riders up and drop riders off in the surrounding area’s which are not coloured in (Richmond Hill, Vaughn Brampton Ajax, Oshawa, Milton, etc.) These areas do not currently regulate ridesharing in their cities which means it is also OK to pick riders up in these areas.

You will not be able to pick up passengers in the following areas (the areas in black on the map):

  • Mississauga
  • Oakville
  • Kitchener
  • Hamilton
  • Niagara

These areas have a separate license that we will need to get before Taxify can make pick-ups in these areas.

But you will always be able to drop off passengers in these areas!

When you enter one of these 5 cities, you will not receive any new ride requests but you can always drop your passenger off.

Q: If I pick someone up in the Toronto area and they want to get dropped off in Mississauga, Oakville, Kitchener, Hamilton Niagara, am I expected / allowed to take them?

A: Yes! You are always allowed to make drop offs in any and all areas and are expected to complete the trip.
